Does Rice University mail grade reports?

Rice does not mail grades to students or their parents, families, or legal guardians. Instead they are available for students to view online via the online student system (ESTHERexternal_link). ESTHERexternal_link is password-protected and the Office of the Registrar cannot provide this password to parents, families, or legal guardians. Students who want to share their grades with their parents, families, or legal guardians have the option of printing an unofficial transcript in ESTHERexternal_link or requesting an official transcript through the Office of the Registrar.

Under FERPAexternal_link the Office of the Registrar may not release non-directory information, including grades, to parents, families, or legal guardians without the signed consent of the student.

How can I pay my son/daughter's tuition and fees?

Under FERPAexternal_link the Office of the Registrar may not release student financial information to parents, families, or legal guardians. The student must verbally inform you about his or her financial account, or he or she must provide written consent authorizing you to receive and inspect their financial statements.

My employer or insurance company require proof of my child's enrollment in school in order to maintain benefits. How do I obtain this information?

An Enrollment Verification is an official document provided by the Office of the Registrar via the National Student Clearinghouseexternal_link. This document verifies dates of attendance, student status (full-time or part-time) and academic standing.

Parents may use the Office of the Registrar's Enrollment Verification Web Application to verify a student's enrollment. Additionally, students can request an Enrollment Verification through ESTHERexternal_link.

Special forms from insurance agencies to be completed by the Office of the Registrar should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar by the student and will be completed in 3 – 5 business days.

How do I find my child's address and phone number at Rice?

Address, email and phone number information for students is available via the online Rice Directoryexternal link symbol. Directory information that the student has not designated as private is presented.

My student will be traveling abroad and will need to request transcripts. May I request the transcripts for my child?

Under FERPAexternal link symbol the Office of the Registrar may not release academic transcripts to parents, families, or legal guardians. Therefore, only the student can request transcripts.

Students can request a transcript via the National Student Clearinghouseexternal link symbol. The National Student Clearinghouseexternal link symbol is available 24/7 via the internet.

How do I pay my student's bill?

How can I view my student's grades?

Under FERPAexternal link symbol the Office of the Registrar may not disclose personal and academic information pertaining to your student without the written permission of the student via the Consent to Release Student Information Form PDF

If parents, families, and guardians would like to view their student's grades, the best resource for obtaining this information is directly from the student. Students who want to share their grades with their parents, families, or legal guardians have the option of printing an unofficial transcript in ESTHERexternal link symbol or requesting an official transcript through the Office of the Registrar.
