Club Sport Eligibility Verification/Certification

The Office of the Registrar completes eligibility verifications/certifications to certify a roster of students who meet academic requirements to play in a contest.

Club sport sponsors seeking the completion of an eligibility verification/certification must follow these guidelines:

  • Obtain the form needed to submit to the sport's governing body for the contest
  • Submit the form to the Office of the Registrar in Allen Center 116. This form may be physically brought to the office, emailed to registrar@rice.edu, or submitted via secure Box upload if there is identifying information on the form (e.g., Social Security Number)
  • Each student on the form must provide written authorization to release their academic information. Sometimes, this written consent is built into the eligibility/verification form, but many times it is not. You may contact our office to determine if the written consent on the form is sufficient. Should it not be sufficient, a Request for Eligibility/Certification Form for Club Sports is available from our office. In either case:
    • A signature from each student is needed. An electronic or digital signature will not be accepted.
    • The club/society/league/tournament/ sport, along with the representative requesting the information, must be provided on the form.
    • The form must contain the first and last name of the student being verified and the student ID number.
    • All information that needs to be verified by the Office of the Registrar must be left blank.

The Office of the Registrar will contact the club sports representative once the form has been completed. Please allow up to 3-5 business days to complete this process.
