Graduation is the culmination of a student's undergraduate career at Rice University. Information about how to prepare during your senior year for this important event can be found under the Preparing for Graduation tab on the left, while information regarding the spring Commencement ceremony is available via the Rice Commencement link. Instructions for obtaining your diploma or ordering a replacement diploma can be found under the Diploma Information tab.
Imporant things to remember about graduation:
- Degrees are conferred twice a year, in December and May.
- Commencement ceremonies are held once a year, in May.
- The 100th Commencement will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013.
Studying Abroad During Your Senior Year
The Office of International Programs, along with the Office of the Registrar, strongly discourage students from completing degree requirements while participating in a study abroad program during the final semester of their senior year.
However, should students choose to complete degree requirements while abroad in the Spring, it should be noted that their degree will not be conferred until the following December. Likewise, if students choose to complete degree requirements while abroad in the Fall, their degree will not be conferred until the following May.
