The purpose of this online training is to provide basic FERPA training to Rice University faculty and staff. University members with access to any kind of student information are expected to know and understand the basic governing principles of FERPA and adhere to them.
University members who wish to request and maintain access to a specific group of student records (e.g. residential college, department, major advisors) must first complete this online FERPA training and brief quiz at least once every two years. At the conclusion of the quiz, you will be presented with a summary of your answers and score. A score of 70% (7 out of 10) is required to gain access to student education records. If you do not score 70% (7 out of 10) or better, you will be required to re-take the training and quiz prior to being granted access to education records.
After clicking the link, you will be required to log in using your Rice NetID to authenticate prior to proceeding to the training if you are not currently logged into Rice's Central Authentication System (CAS).
