Class Meeting Time and Locations

Rice publicly lists the class meeting times on the Course Schedule. As a general practice, Rice does not publicly list meeting locations. This is primarily done to add a layer of security between the general public and the Rice Community so that only those who have a legitimate interest in the meeting location are able to obtain it.

Meeting locations for classes can be viewed in different locations, depending on your role in the Rice community, after you have authenticated your user credentials.

Please note that if a meeting location is not listed in one of the resources below, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • Classrooms have not yet been assigned for courses that have requested an OTR scheduled classroom. (The Office of the Registrar does not post classroom assignments until approximately one month prior to the start of classes for a given semester.)
  • A classroom was not provided by the department for courses that have elected to use a departmentally scheduled room.

Students

After classrooms have been assigned for a given term, you may view the meeting location in ESTHER, in the registration area by clicking on the Register, Add, or Drop Classes tile and then selecting View Student Schedules. Click on the Title of the course and then select the Instructor/Meeting Times item from the Class Details list.

Faculty

After classrooms have been assigned for a given term, the assigned classroom will appear on your Course Roster in ESTHER.

Any Member of the Rice Community

After classrooms have been assigned for a given term, the assigned classroom will appear on the Banner Course Search, which will require SSO login. This site is similar to the site that students use to search for and register for courses.
