Personal Pronouns (Data Use and Protection)
Rice University supports the right of students to update or change how their personal pronouns are identified in the university’s student system.
Entering Your Personal Pronouns (Optional)
To enter or update your personal pronouns, students can do so at any time by logging into ESTHER, navigating to the new interface, and clicking on the Personal Information box.

Please note: Students may add, edit, or remove their personal pronouns at any time. Adding this information is entirely optional and not required.
Use of Personal Pronouns Information
When you enter or update your personal pronoun information in ESTHER, you give permission for your pronouns to be used by Rice systems to be shared within the university community (e.g., on Course Rosters within ESTHER or Canvas). Pronoun data may appear in additional campus systems as use is extended in the future. As noted above, entering this information is optional, and students may add, edit, or remove their personal pronouns at any time.
