Why don't all my advisees have the 60 Credit Hours Outside of Major Requirements?
If a student is pursuing a BA (in every field except Architecture) or a BS degree, then 60 credit hours in coursework must be taken outside the major. (BA-Architecture students require 45 credit hours in coursework outside the major.) If a student is pursuing two or more majors (or two or more degrees), then the 60 credit hours outside of major requirement will be met by completing multiple major (or degree) requirements. Instead, there will be a message in the degree block stating, “Required credit hours outside major met through multiple majors.”
How do I find current degree candidates?
Current degree candidates can be found using the find feature in Degree Works. From the Find Students screen, you will be able to use filters to refine your search.
My department/major (or minor) is not live in Degree Works. Why not?
All undergraduate programs are scribed and active in Degree Works, beginning with the academic year (or "catalog year") of 2011-2012 through the present. Select graduate programs will be activated in Degree Works, beginning with the academic year (or "catalog year") 2016-2017. The current academic year (2016-2017) curricular requirements will be scribed early in the fall semester, in conjunction with the publication of the General Announcements, which is the official Rice curriculum. Degree Works will display the curricular requirements for the current academic year only after review and approval by each department. The scribe status of undergraduate and graduate programs in Degree Works is available here. If you do not see your department/major in the scribe status page, or if the Office of the Registrar requires additional information from your department, please contact email@example.com.
Why isn't a course my advisee took pass/fail fulfilling the major (or minor/certificate) requirement for that course?
