RE: ADDING YOUR PREFERRED FIRST NAME TO ESTHER
This e-mail is sent at the beginning of each semester as a courtesy reminder.
Rice University recognizes that students may choose to use a preferred first name other than their legal name to identify themselves. The university allows a student to submit, within ESTHER, a preferred first name that will appear with or in place of the student's legal name in certain university-related records. If you are known by a first name different than your legal name, please add your preferred first name in ESTHER. It only takes a moment. To do so:
- Please log into ESTHER
- Click on “Personal Information”
- Click on “Name and SSN Change Information”
- Click on box next to “Preferred First Name”, and enter
Once you have updated this in ESTHER, it takes 24 hours for the campus (online) directory to be updated. The online directory is at: https://search.rice.edu/
